Gandaki starts inter-province border demarcation from Kaski

Gandaki Province recently began the task for demarcating the borders of its local units and wards, starting from Kaski.
Work has been expedited to demarcate the borders of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Annapurna Rural Municipality and Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality since Friday. Lekh Bahadur Thapa, Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Co-operatives of Gandaki Province, launched the border demarcation on Friday.
Minister Thapa stated that the work will be completed within the upcoming fiscal year. According to him, the demarcation of Kaski will be finished within this fiscal year. “We will complete the demarcation of all five local units of Kaski before mid-July,” said Minister Thapa. Three different teams have been deployed for the demarcation of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Annapurna, Machhapuchchhre, Madi and Rupa rural municipalities.
Ganga Lal Pokharel, chief of the Land Management Division of Gandaki Province, informed Republica that a team of 14 members led by land revenue officers Shova Acharya in Pokhara Metropolis, Bhim Suwalin in Annapurna and Machhapuchre rural municipalities and Narayan Gharti in Madi and Rupa rural municipalities has been mobilized.
The border demarcation will be carried out as per the standards of the Border Delineation Commission. Chief Pokharel informed Republica that a government official from each local unit will be also deployed in the demarcation task.
A total budget of Rs 32 million has been estimated for the border demarcation. The province has sanctioned Rs 10 million for the project in this fiscal year. The border demarcation has been expected to solve all the border disputes in the province. “We hope this will solve the border disputes among the local units and make them clear about their territories,” said Minister Thapa.
